Precise – Ladies Love Mixtapes The EP – Official Release – Silver Room – Recap

Last night at the Silver Room for the official release of “Ladies Love Mixtapes The EP” was truly one of the best experiences of my career. After putting in so many nights of work and focus on this project it is fulfilling to see so may people come out to support it.

My sister Joelle Lamarre kicked off the festivities with her rendition of “Summer Time” from the George Gershwin production of Porgy and Bess. She totally brought the house down.

Jennifer Ligaya of Intellectual Radio held down her duties as the hostess impeccably. The discussion about relationships covered everything from the first date to the first “kiss”. She also did a piece called “Curiosity Killed The Cat”…lets just say the room was STEAMING!!!…lol

Simple Beauty Naturals provided well needed spa treatments and provided some amazing gift bags to a few guests who were able to answer some tough questions.

Nicole Malcolm the amazing artist provided her flair with some live art.

As we played the EP I was surveying the room checking for responses and I loved what I saw. “I Like It” and “Take Our Time” seemed to get the best responses. My supporters let me know how much they loved the project.

I am so very grateful for the success of this event. I want to give a heartfelt thanks to everyone who was involved. A Special shout goes out to Eric Williams the owner of The Silver Room who opens up his doors for artist throughout the city. We truly appreciate him.

SCANDAL-LESS Thursday – Olivia Pope – “I’s Married Now!” – Kerry Washington

Kerry Washington pulled a Shug Avery this week “She’s Married Now!” My plans were to deliver some information regarding another character…but uhhhh…thats not gonna happen.

Congratulations Kerry Washington – Asomugha. 🙂

Kerry Washington is an amazing actress and has appeared in various movies throughout the years. Her portrayal of BroomHilda Von Schaft in the controversial Quentin Tarrentino film “Django” adds to her resume of great work. Her performance as Nikki Tru in the Chris Rock film “I Think I Love My Wife” is my favorite. She was a powerful, seductive and sultry woman trying her best to get Chris Rock’s character to cheat on his wife. Without giving away any spoilers lets just say that Chris Rock was having a difficult time staying faithful. Her power of persuasion rivals only that of Olivia Pope.

Kerry’s portrayal of Olivia Pope is sexy, confident and vulnerable. Not to mention the fact that SHE IS SO FINE!!! DANG!…….Ok… let me get back on track…The moments when she introspective and vulnerable are the times when I understand the depth of Olivia. This powerful woman who has the ability to wreak havoc on the most powerful government in the world and has everything that a person could possibly want still desires one thing. She wants to be loved. I understand that. I can relate to that. This is probably why the affair she is having with Fitz touches the fans so deeply. So many are in search of love with such a passion that they will overlook immoral and unethical behavior to have love. No judgements. 🙂

Some of Kerry’s best moments are when she delivers her range of the emotion with just one look.

When we last saw Olivia she officially kicked Fitz to the curb (Yeah Right) and he went and laid his head on Mellie’s lap asking for forgiveness.. (Whatever)…lol. Im sure these two will find themselves in some computer room somewhere in the White House again. Maybe they’ll get really creative and pledge their love on the White House lawn. Whatever happens she is going to have to answer A LOT of questions. The cameras are on her this time and the media will be focused. I expect Olivia to be her own client for the bulk of next season. And who knows, maybe Kerry being a married woman will affect her portrayal of Oliva….hmmmmmm.

SCANDAL-LESS Thursday – Huck – Complex Assassin – Guillermo Díaz

Another week without SCANDAL and yet this week has been full of scandal. The trial of George Zimmerman for the murder of Trayvon Martin is being broadcast daily. The state that you live in can change the voting laws without federal approval. If you live in Texas you will need a voters id to cast your vote. Gay Marriage has not been embraced by everyone yet rights are being recognized. Alex Hernandez a former New England Patriots football player is under investigation for allegedly shooting and killing a friend. Annnnnnnd…Paula Deen has managed to become the most famous racist cook we have ever known. Then guess who she hires to get her out of this fiasco….JUDY SMITH!!! If you dont know who Judy Smith is check the blog I wrote a few weeks ago.

Olivia Pope is Judy Smith – SCANDAL-LESS Thursday

Art truly does imitate life and I would not be surprised if one of the situations mentioned above turns up as an episode of your favorite television show. If this was an episode of Scandal, Olivia would have her gladiators hit the pavement. Her most loyal and complex gladiator Huck would be gathering information and playing enforcer at the same time. Imagine him tapping into Paula Deens cellphone calls. I bet you would hear the secret recipe to her famous macaroni and cheese with a few N words dropped in the mix…HA.

Guillermo Diaz is the actor who plays Huck. His resume is extensive and diverse. He has been cast as everything from a gangster to a drag queen. Many of the characters that he portrays have a love for ganja, the sticky icky, loudpack, marijuana WEED!! Refer to the movie “Half Baked” alongside Dave Chapelle and his recurring role on the aptly named SHOWTIME series “WEEDS”. Guillermo has worked with Dave Chappelle on a few different occasions One of the most memorable was as an employee of PopCopy a spoof of FedEx Kinkos on the Chapelle Show.

With a penchant for comedic roles its interesting to see how Guillermo embraces the character of Huck and makes the audience feel for him. Its actually pretty amazing because Huck kills people for a living and still manages to show he has a heart. Only a skilled actor can convey that type of complexity.

We left Huck at a crossroads during the last few episodes of SCANDAL. After being subjected to water boarding and locked in a trunk for a few hours he seems to have lost his passion for being an assassin. I’m expecting something to force his hand in upcoming episodes so he can go back to his killing ways, or maybe he will retire and start selling weed in Colorado. Either way Im sure the fans will love him and wont be mad at him if he tortures the next meddling villain with a drill. I know one thing is for sure I bet Paula Deen wishes she had Huck on her side to kill all this attention she’s getting.

Another Thursday without Scandal? Dont fret I got you covered. If you have been having a hard time finding something to do during this SCANDAL hiatus make sure you hit last weeks blog.

To be honest I was late to all the SCANDAL hoopla and hype. The only reason I ended up watching was because of a friend of mine who persuaded me and because I wanted to know why this show had people stuck to their television sets. 2 seasons later Im writing a blog about it. Go figure..lol

Full disclosure …Kerry Washington is GORGEOUS and that is probably the main reason I watch the show….HA! The most intriguing aspect of the Olivia Pope character is not her impeccable wardrobe. Finding out that Olivia is based on a real life person is what amazes me.

Judy Smith

Judy Smith is the Co-Executive Producer of SCANDAL and is the real “Fixer”. She was the Press Secretary for President George H Bush and has worked with many high profile clients. Her list of clients include names like Lewinsky, Snipes, Bryant, Barry, Craig, Vick and Jackson Jr.. This woman has put in 25 years of WORK! She is known around the world for her expertise as a “Crisis Management Advisor”

This woman helped a crackhead become mayor again. She helped an accused rapist secure endorsement deals again. She helped a dog fighter reestablish himself in the NFL and Blade was able to be a day-walker again. I think she made Jr. Bi-Polar too….HA!

If I find myself in any crisis I need managed I want her on my team. After reading the bio on her website its clear that this woman is the truth.

It just makes me wonder how many of these episodes have some truth to them….hmmmm.

TOP 10 “Things to do while Scandal is on hiatus”

1. Organize your bookshelf.

Surely you have books that you have neglected because of this amazing show…GET TO IT!

2. Call your mother and talk about Scandal.

Mom always appreciates a call and you can have a cool conversation about Olivia’s fashion sense and how Huck turned into a punk.

3. Find a cure for ADHD.

Huh?…what was that?…I got distracted.

4. Start a support group for Scandal withdrawal. S.W.A.G. (Scandal Withdrawal Assistance Group)

I would do this one myself, but I have a blog to write.

5. Write your own TV Drama and cast Megan Goode as the lead.

I know it was done already…but do it again Megan deserves it

6. Become a politician and run for President of the Scandal Fan Club.

I’m sure there are great perks with becoming the president of the Scandal Fan Club. All the wine you can drink and more backstabbing than you can handle cant be bad.

7. Watch Greys Anatomy.

I always seem to catch the last 5 minutes of the most dramatic moments of Greys right before Scandal comes on. Im assuming that this show is awesome because Shonda Rhimes writes this also. All I know is that I would NEVER want to be a patient at that hospital. TOO MUCH DRAMA!

8. Defend the show to all of your friends who dont watch it.

Olivia is a “complex” character to say the least and people who dont know anything about the show seem to be talking about it the most. Invite your friends to the S.W.A.G meetings and provide some insight on the gladiators.

9. Create fictitious story lines about Scandal and start discussions on FB.

In my version of Scandal, Edison beats up the President a marries Olivia. HA!

10. Go for a walk at your nearest park and hold secret meetings on the park bench.

Apparently the best way to make sure things are kept secret is to have a discussion on a park bench surrounded by the public.

I know for a fact that I am not the only one looking forward to seeing the discussion that Olivia will have with her father in the back of that limo. But uhhhh…We gotta wait. For the record I am not one who watches very much TV; however Thursday night is a good night to turn on the television and chat it up with my fellow Scandal fans on Facebook. I love doing the commentary as much as watching the show. It’s like sitting in the living room watching television with 4000 of your closest family members. I have a lot of friends….HA!….Anyway…what do I do on Thursdays now?

I was having a conversation with a close friend. We were discussing this enormous void (not really) that Shonda has placed in our lives for the next 4 months. WHAT IS WE GON DO?!

We came to the conclusion that we can do a few things. We will provide the world with a list of what you can do during this Scandal hiatus aaaaaaaand we will provide you with some cool background on some of the characters. So…There you have it. Scandal-Less Thursdays is in effect…LETS GO!!!

Whats Good World!!!

Welcome to the seventh topic in this series entitled What Ladies Love.

Last weeks question was “How do you know when the person you are with is the one?“Everyone has their own perspective as to who “The One” is. One thing I notice is that as individuals many of us have so many requirements or expectations when it comes to others. However the truest source of our happiness is within us. It matters how we see ourselves. What makes us who we are? Are we just one way or are there many facets to who we are?

The questions have been very general as of late, however this segment is called What Ladies Love. In the spirit of staying true to this segment I present you with this weeks question. “If a dress could describe your personality, would you be a black mini, a pinstriped business suit or a ball gown? Explain. (Don’t feel like you are restricted to these choices.)

Renee said: “Ok, I’m like a chameleon with styles. A business suit could be the better, although I’d be comfortable in all picks.”

Nakisha said: “The black mini represents my youthfulness and playfulness. I am a fun loving girl. That down to earth girl, I got your back your back girl. My ball gown is my mature womanhood. I am wife, mom and whatever my man desires of me. The pinstripe suit is the “I will kick your ass with my knowledge, conversation peace of mind and stamina side of me.”

Robyn said: “I would be a sundress, because they are sexy without even trying.”

Ebonie said: “If I was to have a dress that would describe me it would actually be a pinstripe suit mini skirt with an exquisite blouse underneath the suit blazer jacket. I say this because I wear so many hats. I’m a woman of diversity. I do so many things like most women do. We play so many roles in the lives of people around us and still have the time to look good, feel good even with that S on her chest. I can adapt and blend in anywhere, anytime at any moment.”

Now since I’m a guy…I would say that the best way to describe my personality is urban business casual. I think I just coined a new term…HA! I consider my personality all encompassing, meaning I’m not one particular way all the time. I think that’s the beauty of being alive. Our experiences help to shape who we are and our perspective. I feel as though when we are being who we truly are at all times that it will always align us with the right people. Now tell me what you think. Leave a comment below.

Welcome to the sixth topic in this series entitled What Ladies Love.

Last weeks question was “What is your idea of a soulmate? How do you know when you have found yours? Have you found yours?” What I love about doing this blog aside from being able to promote the release of my Ep “Ladies Love Mixtapes” is that so many of the responses I get are so honest and no one is pulling any punches. I never knew that there were so many different perspectives to the idea of a soulmate. Who knew that you could have met your soulmate and it does not have to be romantic. Thank you to all of you who took time to answer last weeks question.

This weeks question was presented to me by Ashley Webb. Here it is…..

Question

How do you know when the person you are with is the one?

Yolanda said: “When you love them for their perfections and flaws. They become your best friend and you can’t go a day without thinking about them and hearing their voice. You just know….”

Fabian said: “When that person fills in every part of you life that was empty and makes you better than before.”

Camrin said: “Hmmm, I believe I will know if the person is the one by the way they treat me not only while I am in their presence but also when we are not together. Is he just as attentive as he was when we first met? Is he selfless and appreciative in the relationship. Will he make me smile more than he would make me cry. I believe “the one” for me is not perfect but he would be the perfect one for me.”

Tanisha said: “So my disclaimer is that the answer to this question is currently still being defined and I know many may find too esoteric. However, “the one”? Im not even sure there is One. My simple answer is you cant know the one until you know who you really are. True love is not selective or exclusive. Exclusivity is not the love of God but ego. I think there is a perfect and divine mate for everyone and for me, you will know your true mate when you stop seeking. Seeking is the antitheses to happiness but most important when he reveals himself you instantly recognize yourself in the other. This is a big statement because so many of us don’t really know who we are? Everything I covet, love, trust, security and 100 other things I have to realize reside in me. You allow “the one” to come into your life because there is no ego, desire and wanting. The one will give me joy which arises within me vs. pure pleasure that can only be obtained in some seeking outside of me or through someone else.”

Pam said: “My Guy has my back , through good times and bad I know he is the One!!!!”

From my perspective I would say the person who accepts you for who you are totally is the one. I would venture to say that we have all entered into relationships with our “representative” painting the best possible picture of who we are. However we all have quirks and imperfections. Im all about building a partnership and a team. We have to know who we are inside and out. Only the ONE will be able understand this. Thats just a bit of my 2 cents. Whats Good World!!!

Welcome to the fifth topic in this series entitled What Ladies Love.

Last week I asked “When is the right time to introduce your mate to your children? How do you do it?” I can tell by many of the responses and the comments that I read that our children are paramount in our lives. We should take precaution when involving them in our relationships. Many of the choices we make for our own lives affect our children deeply. Thank you to all of you who took the time to answer last weeks question.

This weeks question comes from my cousin Cool V. I think thats awesome because the ladies have been asking fo some input by the gentleman. So…Here it is!!…..

Question

What is your idea of a soulmate? How do you know when you have found them? Have you found your soulmate?

Ebonie said: “To me I think people misconstrue what a real soul mate is. To me it’s not a perfect person it’s not the perfect man is the person who takes all of your fault and looks at you for who you are and said I still want to be with that person I can be with that person forever no matter what if they’d never changed from this day forth that is the person for me. And vise versa. Everything in your being attractions to this person no matter if they make you mad one day piss you off to next that person is forever connected to you by some type of force and if it’s not something that you can let go. You will fight to the ends of the earth to stay with this person. And that person will also fight for you. What you lack they make up and vise versa. That’s my take on it.”

Danita said: “My idea of a soul mate is someone who you honestly are not seeking out but someone who lives you for who you are. The love that is shared may be unknown to the woman but as it says in the Bible…a man is suppose to seek his wife and not the other way around. You have to be patient and wait. You can not rush or try to make someone your soul mate. It’s natural!!”

Charlene said: “Good question. I believe you will just know. It is something I can’t put into words. I believe in soul mates only because I have seen people so connected to each other they must be soul mates.”

Gwen said: “A soulmate is someone who is totally connected to you mentally physically and emotionally. You know you have found that person when they instinctively know what and how you are feeling as do you there is an ease of communication..and yes i have found mine.”

Carmella said: “Our souls must be connected to God in order to be directed to our Soulmate. You must both put God first in order to Love each other! Remember God Is Love! I knew I found mine when his love for God was as deep as mine! I also believe the eyes are the key to our souls and the truth. No matter our differences our flaws we will stay strong as long as our foundation (Which is God) can not be destroyed. What God put together may no man tear under! So stop looking for perfect love in imperfect people and let him lead the way!”

I love that these ladies are being so honest. As for me, at one time I thought that I did find my soulmate.However I was mistaken. I still believe they do exist. Sometimes I think I forced the issue as if I wanted this person to be ment for me so bad that they had to be my soulmate. I must admit I am kind of a romantic at heart. What I think is important is that the idea of the search has to be eliminated. I feel as though we are always connected to the people that we should be connected to. The moment that we come across the one who is the mate for our souls, our soul will tell us. I get excited just thinking about that moment.
