SCANDAL-LESS Thursday – Harrison Wright – Little Walter – Gladiator – Columbus Short

I know I’m a day late!!!…HA! So…Im not really sure when Scandal returns however I know all of you have been anticipating the next amazing installment of SCANDAL LESS Thursday…. WOOO HOOOO!!!! ITS BACK! 😉

Harrisson Wright is probably the most mysterious Gladiator in Olivia’s camp. He is extremely loyal and is good for a pep talk when things get rough. We still don’t know too much about him. Im thinking Shonda is writing some great back story about him at this very moment. What we do know is that he was in jail for something and Olivia helped him out….hmmmmmm

We may not know much about Harrison however the actor by the name of Columbus Short has an extremely solid resume very early in his career. Columbus started his career as a dancer and is first role was in “You Got Served” His first lead role was in Save The Last Dance 2. It went straight to DVD. His next role that I think most people especially the ladies now him from is “Stomp The Yard” , a realistic look at Greek Culture on Historically Black College campuses. Not so much on the second part of that last sentence…HA! Anyway the brother can dance.

His acting chops are tested in the movie “Cadillac Records” where he plays the part of Little Walter. Columbus has been in a few films I have seen but did not know it was him. He has a way of becoming immersed in his role.

Last season every ones story was able to be told. Harrison’s is still a great mystery. Let me tell you what I think happened. I think he was in a dance battle and was trying one of his most dangerous signature moves, and he caused a melee in the midst of a family doing the wobble at a barbecue in Atlanta. Someone lost their life and he was charged with murder during a line dance. Olivia being a fan of line dancing and Stompin the yard felt bad for him and arranged to have him released and become a gladiator because of his great dancing skills and his ability to rally the troops. Well….maybe thats not what happened at all. Shonda’s probably writing his story right now.

Kerry Washington pulled a Shug Avery this week “She’s Married Now!” My plans were to deliver some information regarding another character…but uhhhh…thats not gonna happen.

Kerry Washington is an amazing actress and has appeared in various movies throughout the years. Her portrayal of BroomHilda Von Schaft in the controversial Quentin Tarrentino film “Django” adds to her resume of great work. Her performance as Nikki Tru in the Chris Rock film “I Think I Love My Wife” is my favorite. She was a powerful, seductive and sultry woman trying her best to get Chris Rock’s character to cheat on his wife. Without giving away any spoilers lets just say that Chris Rock was having a difficult time staying faithful. Her power of persuasion rivals only that of Olivia Pope.

Kerry’s portrayal of Olivia Pope is sexy, confident and vulnerable. Not to mention the fact that SHE IS SO FINE!!! DANG!…….Ok… let me get back on track…The moments when she introspective and vulnerable are the times when I understand the depth of Olivia. This powerful woman who has the ability to wreak havoc on the most powerful government in the world and has everything that a person could possibly want still desires one thing. She wants to be loved. I understand that. I can relate to that. This is probably why the affair she is having with Fitz touches the fans so deeply. So many are in search of love with such a passion that they will overlook immoral and unethical behavior to have love. No judgements. 🙂

Some of Kerry’s best moments are when she delivers her range of the emotion with just one look.

olivia-pope-fitz-hookup-in-closet-episode-14-w724When we last saw Olivia she officially kicked Fitz to the curb (Yeah Right) and he went and laid his head on Mellie’s lap asking for forgiveness.. (Whatever)…lol. Im sure these two will find themselves in some computer room somewhere in the White House again. Maybe they’ll get really creative and pledge their love on the White House lawn. Whatever happens she is going to have to answer A LOT of questions. The cameras are on her this time and the media will be focused. I expect Olivia to be her own client for the bulk of next season. And who knows, maybe Kerry being a married woman will affect her portrayal of Oliva….hmmmmmm.

Another week without SCANDAL and yet this week has been full of scandal. The trial of George Zimmerman for the murder of Trayvon Martin is being broadcast daily. The state that you live in can change the voting laws without federal approval. If you live in Texas you will need a voters id to cast your vote. Gay Marriage has not been embraced by everyone yet rights are being recognized. Alex Hernandez a former New England Patriots football player is under investigation for allegedly shooting and killing a friend. Annnnnnnd…Paula Deen has managed to become the most famous racist cook we have ever known. Then guess who she hires to get her out of this fiasco….JUDY SMITH!!! If you dont know who Judy Smith is check the blog I wrote a few weeks ago.

Olivia Pope is Judy Smith – SCANDAL-LESS Thursday

Art truly does imitate life and I would not be surprised if one of the situations mentioned above turns up as an episode of your favorite television show. If this was an episode of Scandal, Olivia would have her gladiators hit the pavement. Her most loyal and complex gladiator Huck would be gathering information and playing enforcer at the same time. Imagine him tapping into Paula Deens cellphone calls. I bet you would hear the secret recipe to her famous macaroni and cheese with a few N words dropped in the mix…HA.

SCANDAL-DIAZ_510x317Guillermo Diaz is the actor who plays Huck. His resume is extensive and diverse. He has been cast as everything from a gangster to a drag queen. Many of the characters that he portrays have a love for ganja, the sticky icky, loudpack, marijuana WEED!! Refer to the movie “Half Baked” alongside Dave Chapelle and his recurring role on the aptly named SHOWTIME series “WEEDS”. Guillermo has worked with Dave Chappelle on a few different occasions One of the most memorable was as an employee of PopCopy a spoof of FedEx Kinkos on the Chapelle Show.

With a penchant for comedic roles its interesting to see how Guillermo embraces the character of Huck and makes the audience feel for him. Its actually pretty amazing because Huck kills people for a living and still manages to show he has a heart. Only a skilled actor can convey that type of complexity.

We left Huck at a crossroads during the last few episodes of SCANDAL. After being subjected to water boarding and locked in a trunk for a few hours he seems to have lost his passion for being an assassin. I’m expecting something to force his hand in upcoming episodes so he can go back to his killing ways, or maybe he will retire and start selling weed in Colorado. Either way Im sure the fans will love him and wont be mad at him if he tortures the next meddling villain with a drill. I know one thing is for sure I bet Paula Deen wishes she had Huck on her side to kill all this attention she’s getting.

Scandal….Fitz HAS GONE MAD!!!

It’s been a while since I posted about Scandal and my deduction was only partially right. Huck DID NOT shoot Fitz
however it wasn’t Hollis Doyle as I suspected. It was the Judge (Verna Thornton)
.DUN DUN DUN!!

The past few weeks have been a roller coaster  Fitz wakes up out of a coma just as the vice president and Hollis are making a play for the White House. Then he finds out that Verna tried to have him killed and that he was only president because his inner circle including his mistress Olivia Pope fixed the election for him. So as a result of this he kills Verna, reconciles with his wife, dumps Olivia and becomes an alcoholic. WHOA!

Fast forward 6 months and Fitz doesn’t trust anyone, he is ignoring his advisor Cyrus, Americans have been taken hostage and he is using his friend to stalk his ex-mistress with government resources.

The president has officially gone crazy

Of course Olivia is heartbroken in the midst of all of this. She turns down a proposal from Edison thinking Fitz is going to divorce his wife for her. Yeah
that didn’t happen. Olivia is such a high powered character who still succumbs to the quest for love. Ahhh
. Love.

Part of me wants to feel sympathy for Olivia. Another part of me is saying “That’s what she gets.”  No matter how much they make me want to hate the president’s wife Mellie the fact never escapes me that Mellie is his wife. Olivia is officially the side-chick and she knows it for sure now.

Ladies Love Scandal….Huck didnt do it.

First off allow me to take this moment to shout out Shonda Rhimes. This is a well written show with a great cast. Chicago is proud of you!!

Now..For the past 2 months or so Thursday has been a busy day on social networks. Scandal hash-tags fill my timelines. My original intent was not to watch this show. However, my curiosity got the best of me. I was able to catch up on the first and second season up to the part where Fitz (President) is shot.

I admit I have my reservations about this show. The love triangle in its most basic sense concerns me. I also have issue with this “job” that Mellie (First Lady) thinks that Liv (Fixer) does with respect to the presidency……anyway…Im not going to get all hyper historical and political and righteous..lets get to the real subject at hand…

***SPOILER ALERT****

Huck DID NOT shoot Fitz.

The final scene ends with Huck (Ex Cia Spy/Hacker) scooping up bullets off of a chair with gun in hand to give the viewer the impression that he just shot Fitz. IM NOT GOIN!!

This show does a great job at moving around a lot of pieces. Sometimes information can get lost in the shuffle. The one thing I notice is that the main characters stay consistent with respect to who they are.

Clearly Huck is a spy who has committed heinous crimes in the name of the government. He has a very particular set of skills; skills that he has acquired over a very long career. Skills that will make a nightmare for most people. HA!… Shout Out To Liam Neeson and “Taken”

Huck is on the road to redemption. He finds enjoyment in his work. He understands that there is something wrong with it. He joins Alcohol Anonymous to work on his addiction to “Whiskey”. He meets a girl…she doesn’t mind that hes a weirdo. He made an impassioned speech to save the life of a fellow spy (It didn’t work). He turned a corner.

The one murder he should have committed he didn’t do. These ex CIA spies have some type of keen sixth sense. Huck knew something was going to happen after listening to the static on the radio and went there to stop it. He got there too late and had to rush out before he was spotted.

……In the episode previous to this one Charlie (Ex CIA Spy) comes back into town after being “instructed” to leave by Huck. Charlie makes a call to one of his many clients and mentions he is ready to get back to work (killing people).

I know who shot Fitz.

Charlie shot Fitz for Hollis Doyle (Rich Guy) in order for him to regain his influence in the White House. Sally Langston (Vice President) and Quinn were in on it.
