Four people are now in custody for an alleged kidnapping that was broadcast on Facebook live. The brazen act took place in Tuesday on the 3400 block of West Lexington on the West Side of Chicago. The victim of the assault was tied up, beaten, his clothes were cut, his hair was cut until his scalp started to bleed. The also used his head as an ashtray. Brittany Hearing is one of the individuals who has been arrested and she is seen holding the phone and communicating with those who are watching the stream. Her facebook page has been shared on YouTube.

The kidnapping has been hash tagged on Twitter as #BLMKidnapping. The suspects are heard in the background of the video screaming F– Trump and F–White people. However; it has not been stated that they have any affiliation with the Black Lives Matter movement.

Supt. Johnson said in the press conference that he thinks those comments are stupidity and people ranting about something that they think might make a headline.

At some point the victim was released and was found by the Chicago police wandering the street. The police then responded to a battery call at a residence close to where the victim was found. Once the police saw the video it was determined that the man in the video and the man they found was the same person.

Chicago Police Supt. Eddie Johnson said “It’s sickening. It makes you wonder what would make individuals treat somebody like that. I’ve been a cop or 28 years, and I’ve seen things that you shouldn’t see in a lifetime and it still amazes me how you still see things that you just shouldn’t.

Commander Kevin Duffin mentioned in the press conference that the victim was an acquaintance of one of the subjects. The victim is reportedly from a Chicago suburb and was recently reported missing by his parents. Duffin also stated a van was stolen from that suburb.

“If you commit an act of violence in the city of Chicago you will experience the full weight of the Chicago Police Department. Tonight four individuals have felt the consequences of their actions” said Supt. Johnson

Soulja Boy a victim of perspective – plus he needs to go sit down

screen-shot-2017-01-03-at-9-45-21-pm

Soulja Boy has been all over the Internet the last few days. It hasn’t been for greatness either. There has been a challenge named after him because of some Vlad Tv footage of him describing a burglary and shooting. He is currently beefing with Chris Brown, over Karrueche..I think. While this is going on he goes to the streets to show how welcome he is amongst his bloods.

So it looks like one thing happened

https://instagram.com/p/BO0xA92A9vB/

But this is what really happened

https://instagram.com/p/BO03eqnB-11/

The internet is an interesting place. The world flooded the timelines with one video saying he got whopped and that’s not what happened at all. Can’t believe everything you think you see. And, Soulja needs to go sit down somewhere and relax.

screen-shot-2017-01-03-at-8-51-48-pm

Look this video is NSFW, hell its not safe for most things. Anyway, looks like Troy Ave who is currently home from jail and who just got shot in the head a few days ago decided he wanted to step it up a few notches.

So…he filmed a porn and added his song to it.

I want to say I’m surprised but the lack of talent that permeates this industry is being covered up with stunts like this. Let’s see where this takes his career.

Former NFL running back Rashaan Salaam found dead at 42

Former NFL running back Rashaan Salaam was found dead at a park in Boulder Colorado. He was 42.  Salaam won the coveted Heisman Trophy in 1994. He was a first round draft pick in 1995. Salaam was the 21st pick overall by the Bears. In his rookie year, Salaam rushed for 1,074 yards, becoming the youngest player in league history to rush for over 1,000 yards.

A police spokeswoman said the cause of death is still under investigation. Police have mentioned that there is no indication of foul play. Salaams mother Khalada told USA Today sports that they suspected suicide.

“They said they found a note and would share that with is when we get there.” Said Salaams mother.

Salaam was well loved in Colorado. Matt Russell who is currently the director of personnel for the Denver Broncos and a former teammate of Salaam at The University Of Colorado shared some of his thoughts.

“Rashaan was as dynamic off the field as he was on the field as a player. He was a fiercely loyal friend, someone who was always in your corner and had your back. He was the ultimate teammate and supportive of everyone in his locker room. If there was ever a guy who was going to get a personal foul for protecting someone on his team, Rashaan was that guy.

“Rashaan was the ultimate Buffalo and was so proud to be called a ‘Colorado Buffalo.’ We were part of the same recruiting class, what we called ‘nine deuce,’ the Class of 1992. On the field, Rashaan was the definition of a winner. It was important to him. He practiced hard, he played hard and he made our teams better. Rashaan and I laughed a lot after practices because we had so many battles and fights. Even when we last saw each other a few years ago at the CU Hall of Fame induction, we still shared those great memories and had a lot of laughs from our time together at Colorado.

“My heart goes out to Rashaan’s mother and his family. They have a lot to be proud of with the person that Rashaan was, the way he treated people and the friend he was to everyone he came across. He will be missed by so many, and I extend my deepest sympathies to Rashaan’s many friends and family.”

Kanye West has been hospitalized in L. A. following a series of incidents, that lead to him cancelling his Saint Pablo Tour.

TMZ provided more information below.

Kanye West has been taken to UCLA Medical Center for psychiatric evaluation.

According to law enforcement sources … cops responded to a call for a welfare check on Kanye around 1:20 PM PT. He wasn’t at his home at the time. We’re told paramedics also responded and ended up transporting Kanye to the hospital by ambulance.

Sources connected to Kanye tell us he was getting checked out by one of his doctors for severe sleep deprivation when someone — possibly the physician — decided he needed to be admitted.

Law enforcement sources tell us Kanye did not want to go, and was restrained when he was transported.”

Common’s ‘Black America Again’ is Unapologetic Rap

Common at AAHH! Fest – (Photo Credit: Eddy “Precise” Lamarre)

Common has created yet another masterpiece with “Black America Again” The project starts off with a rousing introduction on the song “Joy and Peace “. It sounds like an opening prayer as Bilal’s layered vocals fill the track towards the end. There is a strong political message throughout the project speaking to politicians and citizens to take responsibility for the change that is necessary. Common has not veered away from what has kept him relevant in the industry for over 2 decades. He is a lyricist with a conscious who uses his platform for change.

The song “Black America Again” is an impassioned poem/song that pays respect to Trayvon Martin and any and every injustice that continues to be an issue in the Black community. The song points a finger but it doesn’t absolve anyone of their actions. “We hold these truths to be self evident all men and women are created equal including Black Americans” Stevie Wonders blends in toward of the latter part of the track singing “We are re-writing the Black American story.”

“Love Star” (feat Marsha Ambrosious and PJ) along with “Red Wine” (feat Syd and Elena) give the ladies what they expect from Common. Both songs convey that smooth Chicago vibe that is ever present in his work. “Pyramids” is the song for the emcees, and a few of the verses and acrobatics that you hear in this joint can explain why Common is in many Top 5 discussions. In one verse he spits “Shift the paradigm with a pair a rhymes” That lyric in itself speaks volumes to who Common understands himself to be and what he is here to do.

There is an honesty and authenticity that lives in this project. It’s fluid. Every lyric, drum, horn and interlude is purposeful. It manages to deliver a well needed message without sounding like a sermon. “Black America Again” is Unapologetically Black and undeniably hip hop.

Precise and Herb Kent “The Cool Gent”

The iconic radio legend Herb Kent passed away in Chicago at the age of 88. Kent’s leendary career has spanned over four decades and his voice has become synonymous with Sunday afternoons in Chicago radio. Herb Kent helped launch the careers of such R&B artists as The Temptations, Minnie Riperton, Curtis Mayfield, and Smokey Robinson. During the turbulent ‘60s, Herb was a prominent voice of Civil Rights era using his broadcast platform. In 1995, Herb was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame. His radio home V103 released a statement concerning his passing.

Herb was an iconic talent, who for nearly 70 years entertained millions of listeners in Chicagoland and around the world. His passion for radio and work ethic was second-to-none as Herb worked to the very end, by hosting what unexpectedly was his final V103 broadcast on Saturday morning.

Herb leaves a legacy of thousands of entertainers he helped boost, community causes he impacted, and as a former instructor at Chicago State University, sharing his encyclopedic knowledge with hundreds of students.

We are so thankful for the privilege of working alongside such an historic figure as Herb Kent for the past 27 years. Our thoughts and prayers are with Herb’s family, friends, and loved ones.”

“Losing Herb Kent for us old school radio jocks and fans of old school radio is like losing your favorite artist…Luther Vandross, Michael Jackson, Prince. He’s absolutely irreplaceble. He was an iconic personality from a time when Black radio was everything to black people. His physical presence will be missed but his influence will live forever. He said.

‘Birth of a Nation’ – I walked out feeling everything but happiness

screen-shot-2016-10-08-at-3-02-02-pm

Birth of a Nation was not going to be on my list of must see movies. I made a judgement off of emotion and loyalty to the women in my life that I would not go and see it, based on the information that was exposed about the films writer and director Nate Parker. It felt like the right thing to do. A woman committed suicide for many reasons we do not know, but this specific situation had to add to her agony. I feel for her and her family and anyone who is enduring the type of pain that would cause them to take their own life.

Ultimately as the movie moved closer to release I examined my position. I could not allow my emotion from experiencing a film that is so important to who we are. So on the same day that the first Black president was raising funds for the election down the street from Kanye’s Saint Pablo tour I decided to go and see the film with no reservations.

The film begins with a vision, The vision is placed in folklore, religion and ancestry. Nat Turner is destined for the journey that he is on. The film then becomes another slave movie, except this time you know their will be accountability on the part of those unleashing pain and suffering on anyone with Black skin. It happens and I find myself unfulfilled as if it was not enough. Watching interactions with overseers and slaves run parallel to the interactions that Black people are having in 2016. It’s eye opening, sobering and not surprising. I’m not sure what I expected. I left the theatre feeling everything but happiness. As I walked out of the doors of the Chatham theater I felt empty, angry and sad. In the background I hear murmurings of “Look at what our ancestors went through, and we still moving backwards.” The brothers I lock eyes with are speechless. What did we just watch. What are we called to do, who can we trust?

I’m glad I decided to go see the film in spite of the controversy that surrounded it. It shook up a reality inside of me. A reality that must be addressed. What are we willing to die for? Now is the time to straighten out our backs.

Nat Turner should be honored, as a man. A man who decided it was time to do something. Now, what do we do?
