Dwayne Wade’s daughter Zaya makes her official debut on the red carpet

Dwayne Wade and Gabrielle Union shared a big reveal of sorts.. Dwayne Wades 12-year-old daughter Zaya made her first appearance on the red carpet since coming out as transgender in February of this year. The big reveal was held on March 8, 2020 at Truth Awards in Los Angeles.

Retired NBA star Dwayne Wade shared his daughters gender identity during an interview on The Ellen Show this past February. Wade explained how his then son Zion came home and wanted to talk to his family. “Zion, born as a boy, came home and said, ‘Hey, so I want to talk to you guys. I think going forward I am ready to live my truth. I want to be referenced as ‘she’ and ‘her.’ I would love for you guys to call me Zaya.'”

Since that announcement many have come forward with their opinions. Rapper Lil Boosie was one of the most vocal making the error in thinking Zaya was having gender reassignment surgery “Don’t cut his d–k off bru. If he gone be gay let him be gay, but don’t cut his dick off bruh and don’t address him as a woman dawg” said Boosie

Gabrielle Union shared a video on instagram with a heartfelt caption. “”We keep moving forward. We keep leading with love, light, and hope for a better more inclusive world. Stay put and stay mad if you want. We keep it pushing. Always.”

The Better Brothers Truth Awards ceremony is an opportunity for the Black LGBTQ+ community to be highlighted for the work they are doing in the community.

How do you feel about this? Should Wade be encouraging this? Would you? Please share in the comments.
